Poetry

Here is a collection of most beautiful English verse, sonnets, poetry - romantic, war and nature. The page contains altogether some of the most delightful English poetry collections ever written in History. I plan to add most of the poetry that I came across and read and re-read. Poetry written by great poets such as William Wordsworth, Robert Browning, Emily Brontë, John Keats and so many others are worth being part of a collection and you can just read them again and again whenever you wish to.

Maya Angelou


Maya Angelou was a well-known American poet, writer and singer. She has several books which include autobiographies, poetry and essays to her credit. Her words, thoughts and life lessons are inspiring.

Rumi

(1207-1273)

Rumi was a well-known poet and Islamic scholar who has been greatly appreciated for his spiritual legacy. His prose and poems are popular and are translated in various languages. His poetry has a mystical element and his quotes are inspiring.




William Wordsworth


(1770 - 1850)

William Wordsworth was an English poet who wrote some great poetry influenced in Western literature.




Andrew Marvell

(1621 - 1678)

Andrew Marvell was an English metaphysical poet known for some of his great works. Apart from being a poet, he was also a satirist and a politician.




Ralph Waldo Emerson

(1803 - 1882)

Ralph Waldo Emerson was an American philosopher, lecturer and a poet.









Edward Thomas
(1878 - 1917)

Philip Edward Thomas was an English poet known for his poems which depicted war experiences of World War I.





Rabindranath Tagore

(1861 - 1941)

Rabindranath Tagore was known for his poetry, short stories, work of fiction, dramas and quotes.

Walter D. Wintle

(Late 19th and early 20th Century)

Very little is known about this poet, who is seemed to have written poems under a pseudonym. Whoever the real person among these poems is, one thing is for sure the poems written by him makes you believe in yourself and empower your mind.

Rudyard Kipling was a renowned poet, novelist, journalist and is best known for his work of fiction such as 'Jungle Book'

Edwin Muir was a Scottish poet, vividly remembered for his heart-felt poems.

Geroge Herbert was a Welsh poet also recognized as 'one of the foremost British devotional lyricist'.


Robert Graves

(1895 - 1985)

Robert Graves was an English Poet, also a novelist and a classicist. One of his notable quotes - 'There's no money in poetry, but then, there is no poetry in money either'.

Rupert Brooke

(1887 - 1915)

Rupert Brooke was an English Poet, who is known for his sonnets, especially of  'The Soldier'. 


Edwin Arlington Robinson

( 1869 - 1935)

E A Robinson was an American Poet, who is known for his notable works. He is also the recipient of 3 Pulitzer awards and a Nobel Prize.


Walter De La Mare

(1873 - 1956)

Walter De La Mare was a British Poet known for his poetry, short stories and novels. 


Robert Frost

(1874 - 1963)

Robert Frost was an American poet who is highly regarded as one of the greatest American poets. His poetry has the magic of turning something ordinary into dramatic and fascinating.
