A Mistake Poem

I came across this poem recently and simply loved it. I enjoyed reading it and I am sure you would too. Though I am not sure who exactly is the poet of this poem. If you have any idea, let me know. The poem is about making mistakes, accepting it, asking for forgiveness and learning from those mistakes. Enjoy the poem!

A Mistake

    - By Poet Unknown

I know I went wrong somewhere,
I know it was at your stake,
I know at all it wasn't fair,
I'm sorry, it was my mistake.

Things don't always go right in life,
That doesn't mean we break apart,
To forgive and to forget,
That's the rule and life's art.

A trauma of feelings, a jamboree of thoughts,
All caught up and muddled between ought, nots, and oughts,
The blunder is done, let me find the track,
In this world of actions, there is no looking back.

Never will I moan,
Never will I fret,
If you do understand me,
Let's all forgive and forget.

And pretend that nothing happened before,
And that it as never born,
For at dusk you might look around you,
And find yourself forlorn.

Never with mistakes does life blotch,
You only look at it as worse,
It is made up of attitudes alone,
Life is beautiful and never a curse.

You learn from mistakes,
You earn from mistakes,
A lifetime of experience,
As richest as ever.

Expansion of Idea - Green City, Clean City

When we say 'green city', the first thing that comes to our mind is a city full of greenery. Lush green trees and plants everywhere! When we say 'clean city', the first thing that comes to our mind is a city completely clean of garbage, pollution and dirt. The combination of both blows our mind away. Something such would exist is a dream come true.

But think about it in this manner -  a city which is green because of lots and lots of trees swaying away all around would definitely keep away pollution, forest degradation and other environmental problems. Such city would help purify the air and allow us to breathe safely, without any worry of pollutants and gases. A green city will allow us to live a healthy life. Such city would gain an ecotourist importance and attract tourists and visitors from all around the world.

If such a city exists the residents of such city would rejoice because of all the attention. In turn, they would take certain measures to keep the city clean and set an example. Not only will the green city be maintained but the people of the city would plant more trees and try to maintain the green environment. Once the ecosystem is balanced, the city would remain free from diseases and the residents would enjoy healthy environs. But such city can still exists, if we as concerned citizens take initiative towards making it green and clean.

It is completely upon us as the concerned citizens to plant more trees, maintain them, maintain cleanliness and keep the environmental problems at bay. Even if it starts with one city, slowly and steadily it would grow. Imagine what the consequences be - good health and happiness everywhere!

Expansion of Idea - Live and Let Live

Life is the best gift to mankind. Enjoying life and allowing others to enjoy so is the right thing to do. Making use of every opportunity available to us helps to make life better. Such opportunities should be enjoyed and allowed others to enjoy as well. Every person has the right to make the most of the opportunity provided to him to improve his standard of living and to develop his own skills. Man in his own greed at times, takes away such opportunity from others who too deserve to enjoy. By doing so, we destroy the peace and well being of others.

No one can predict the time allotted to them to make their presence on this earth. Hence one should make the right use of his time and allow others to do so too. But greed overpowers all the desires. Greed not just to have everything to oneself, but greed to peace, greed to fame, greed to power and greed to success makes man cruel and selfish. In such cases, we destroy lives of others and bring harm to innocent people. We should allow each and everyone the opportunity to live and enjoy life. Every one has the right to do so. No one is less fortunate than other. 'Live and let live' indeed should be the prime principle of every individual's life.

The Man in the Glass Poem By Peter Dale Wimbrow

I recently read this poem and thoroughly enjoyed it. This poem is written by Peter Dale Wimbrow(1895 - 1954), usually known as Dale Wimbrow. Dale Wimbrow was an American composer, writer and is well known for his poems. This poem titled as "The Man in the Glass" is originally titled "The Guy in the Glass'. I am posting the version I read. This poem is about being true to oneself. The words of the poem remind you the one truth - 'You can cheat or lie to the whole world, but you can't cheat or lie to  yourself.'

The Man in the Glass

                      - By Peter Dale Wimbrow

When you get what you want in your struggle for self,
And the world makes you king for a day,
Just go to the mirror and look at yourself,
And see what that man has to say.

For it isn't your father, or mother, or wife
Whose judgment upon you must pass,
The fellow whose verdict counts the most in your life
Is the one staring back from the glass.

Some people may think you a straight-shooting chum
And call you a wonderful guy,
But the guy in the glass says you're only a bum
If you can't look him straight in the eye.

He's the fellow to please - never mind all the rest
For he's with you, clear up to the end,
And you've passed your most difficult, dangerous test
If the man in the glass is your friend.

You may fool the whole world down the pathway of years
And get pats on the back as pass,
But your final reward will be heartaches and tears,
If you've cheated the man in the glass.

Expansion of Idea - We Live in Deeds Not in Years

Man is known for his deeds. Our actions speak louder than our words. What a man does in his life counts more than how long he lived. You may live a short span life, but if your life is well-spent than such a life is far better than a life that is long lived. Life that we have is a god's gift, and it is upon us how we make the most of it.

What is the point in living a longer life which is wasted and has nothing to remember by! Man in it's entirety can survive on his actions rather than how long he lived. Deeds speak for themselves. Our deeds and our actions are what we are judged for, not for the length span of our life.  A life full of negativity, regrets and unpleasantness is not a life well spent.

You rather live short, but whatever time you spend on this earth it should be worth it. A good living never goes unnoticed. Some spend their life with actions that announce positivity, generosity, humility, charity and forgiveness. Such people are followed by many and often serve as examples to live by. Hence it is imperative that one should make a good living of his life and enjoy optimistic and positive approach. Because we live in deeds not in years.

10 Funny Phobias One Cannot Believe Existed

Phobia is an extreme fear of something. One could get anxious or extremely upset or even fear persistently about any object or certain situations. Phobia is one such situation which an individual would go to lengths to avoid. But not all phobias may sound serious to us. There are certain phobia which we may at times find too weird or funny. Here are ten such funny phobias which one cannot believe existed.

1.  Ablutophobia

Ablutophobia is the fear of bathing. With this phobia an individual may persistently fear bathing or cleaning oneself. This kind of phobia is more common in children and females. Wonder whether it is this phobia that keeps dogs away from bathing!

2. Arachibutyrophobia

Peanut butter lovers would never imagine, someone would have a phobia related to it. Well not entirely about eating peanut butter but arachibutyrophobia is the fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of the mouth.

3. Chrometophobia

Chrometophobia is one such phobia one may find funny, as it could affect one's life at a great extent. Chrometophobia is the phobia where a man fears money. Now money is used by us in our day to day life to buy commodities, and also to live and make a living. A phobia as such can affect an individual vastly. How can one survive like that, I wonder!

4. Chronophobia

Now even this phobia is weird! Chronophobia is a phobia where an individual suffering from it fears of time passing. Such person may fear watches and clocks. Existence of such phobia can really put an individual's life in great trouble, I must say!

5. Lachanophobia

Meat lovers won't mind this at all! Lachanophobia is one such phobia where an individual may have great fear of vegetables. A  person suffering from this phobia may suffer panic attacks at the sight of certain vegetables, for example say peas, potatoes, cereals. This phobia could relate to one or two such vegetables or many. Now, vegetables is one such thing that provides us with nutrition and good health, but some people may indeed be afraid of them.

6. Peladophobia

Now how can one survive with such a thing! Peladophobia is the fear of bald people or baldness. Being bald or having bald people around cannot be helped. But imagine some people actually getting anxious around bald people or fearing the thought of becoming bald themselves.

7. Photophobia

This phobia I wished never existed! Photophobia is a phobia where one is afraid of light. This fear resembles a condition known as light sensitivity where a person could get over-sensitive around light. He or she may feel that light is hurting their eyes and would prefer remaining in dark.

8. Pogonophobia

Pogonophobia is one such funny phobia where an individual may take extreme dislike for beards or even fear the presence of someone who has beards. Though we may find such a phobia silly, but for those who suffer from it it is not funny at all. Such people suffering with pogonophobia can get extremely upset around people with beards.

9. Syngenesophobia

Maybe I have this phobia! Syngenesophobia is a phobia where one individual may get extremely afraid or upset around relatives. This fear could be about being around relatives or even siblings. In such condition a person may really get anxious about meeting relatives - either all or some of them. For example this fear could be related to fear of aunts, fear of cousins, fear or uncles or anyone else in particular. Such person may get extremely anxious in such people's company.

10. Tonsurephobia

Tonsurephobia is a phobia where a person can be extremely upset or afraid  about getting haircuts. The existence of such phobia in an individual could really affect his or her physical well-being. But such phobia does exist, however weird it may sound.
